Taos Summer Writers' Conference 2006

Desert vistas seem calming, somehow. Or am I just high on the scent of wild sage?
Front: Ceil, Cindy, Elliott, instructor Julie Mars, Emily, Elizabeth. Back: Mary W, Dan, me, Mary L, Suzanne, Maggie
I saw clouds upon a mountain; joy is like a cloud...anyone remember that song?
If everyone specializes in healing, why is there a hospital in Taos? Just askin'.....
Murals let you know you're in New Mexico!
Cruising the landscape around Taos, I wished I'd brought my climbing shoes.
Clouds bearing down on rocky wrinkles in the earth reminded me of winter blankets urging sleep on knobby knees of childhood.
The light...the shadows...even a pocket digital can capture something of the magic Ansel Adams finds out here.
What is it with these whirlygigs? They're everywhere! There's something spiritual about them, I believe....
If you think this picture is the same as the last, look again! The figure eight becomes an oval in the wind.....
To a hungry and health-conscious traveler, this signpost answers many prayers.
The garden path to Sheva Café made me want to be an elf and live there, swathed in lilies, riding fuzzy catarpillars to lunch.
Someday my garden will have so many flowers that sculptures appear out of nowhere, like this one.
This water lily took me back to China...to the sacred island of Putuoshan...the East China Sea...the golden deity Guanyin.
Leah and I relax at Sheva Café. The lemonade has mint and berries. Order it!
Chef Tongue-Twister is pretending to consume the brownie I have just purchased, while boss Ileanah MAY be pinching his behind.
It's that old devil moon...en route from Taos to Albuquerque, via Santa Fe.
The blue hand of the streetlight reaches out as if to dribble the moonball.
At first I saw an angel's wing, and then Ganesh, chasing some thing....
It's a marvelous night for a moondance.... The moon reaches its zenith. Albuquerque. I am ready to go home.
